This fall brings two exciting local photography events featuring contributions from A3C3 members:

FOUND Photography Show and Workshops
Four photographers from the Ann Arbor Area Crappy Camera Club  - John Baird, Bill Bresler, Mark O'Brien and Mike Myers - will be showing their work and doing workshops at the FOUND Gallery in the Kerrytown shops in Ann Arbor, between September 25th  and October 13th.

Full details can be found here.

Vintage Argus: Contemporary Images
During September and October, the Argus Museum in the old Argus factory on Ann Arbor's Old West Side, will be hosting an exhibit of contemporary images made by members of the Ann Arbor Crappy Camera Club, using a variety of fine old locally-made Argus cameras

Full details can be found here.

With summer winding down, September's meeting will find us once again at the Corner Brewery in Ypsilanti.

If it's nice we can sit outdoors and catch the last rays of day. If not, we can sit inside and tell stories, look at each other's gear, and even some photographs.

And for anyone contributing to the Argus Show, Mark says "that would be an excellent time for people to deliver their photos to me for the Argus show, hint, hint..."

When: Tuesday September 2nd at 7pm
Where: Corner Brewery in Ypsilanti!

August Meeting 07/09/2008

For August's meeting, the tentative plan is to bring (crappy) cameras along and shoot portraits. If needed bring lighting, flash, reflectors, props, backgrounds etc...whatever you need for the job. Enlist other members as models or bring along your own.

When: Tuesday August 5th, 2008
Time: 6:30pm
Where: West Park Band Shell
(Or in case of bad weather, we 'll meet at Sweetwaters Coffee House on Washington Street).

July Meeting 06/26/2008

July's meeting will be on July 1st, 7pm at the Corner Brewery in Ypsi.

As usual bring along any new work to show and tell, recent crappy camera acquisitions and mods, and of course the usual ideas and enthusiasms.

Taking a rare A3C3 diversion into the digital realm, Bill B will be bringing along one of his students who will show off and talk about his project to hack digital cameras to shoot infrared.

When: Tuesday July 1, 7pm
Where: Corner Brewery, Ypsilanti

June Meet-Up 05/21/2008

Somewhere new for the June 3rd meeting. We'll meet at the Cloverleaf Diner, on the corner of 4th Avenue and Liberty Street in downtown Ann Arbor at 6pm.  Bring a healthy appetite 'cause the food is BIG.

Bring your camera and a new photo to pass around. Don't be late for dinner! They close at 7pm but are going to stay until we've finished eating. After supping, we can walk it off and take photos around town, perhaps grab drinks or dessert later. Chow!
When: June 3rd, 6pm
Where: Cloverleaf Diner, 210 E Liberty

May Meeting 04/20/2008

May's Crappy Camera Club meeting will be at Island Park in Ann Arbor.

We'll meet in one of the the shelters on Island Drive at around 6pm. As Mike says, "we can sit around and talk or just goof around, walk around and take pictures and then meet up at Casey's for libations."

If it's raining or the weather's otherwise inclement, we'll switch to the Corner Brewery in Ypsi at 7pm. Watch this space.

When: Tuesday May 6th, 6pm
Where: Island Park, Ann Arbor
Afterwards: Casey's Tavern on Depot Street

See you there!

A3C3 members John Baird, Ralph Krawczyk, Jr., and Michael Myers have photographs in the Festifools group show. The show is organized by local photographer Myra Klarman, and is currently hanging at Sweetwaters Cafe in Ann Arbor.

From the show blurb:

"The idea of a group show was inspired by the amazing diversity of images I saw on Flickr.com (a photo sharing website) of last year’s event – the inaugural FestiFools.

I invited the members of three Flickr groups – Exposure Detroit, the Ann Arbor Area Crappy Camera Club (A3C3), and the (more general) Ann Arbor group – to submit up to five photographs to the pool. The jury chose at least one image from each photographer.

The photographers who participated had to work fast! Within a week and a day of the event, all accepted images needed to be printed, framed, and delivered. Most of the images were taken with state-of-the-art digital cameras. But several of the photographers used plastic Holgas and film."

Sweetwaters Cafe is at 123 W Washington St, in downtown Ann Arbor. The show runs through May 2008, with an Artist Reception on April 25th, 7-10pm.

More details in the Festifools Show Flickr Group.

Join us on an A3C3 outing to check out the new William Christenberry show at UMMA Off/Site.

When: Thursday April 17, 5:30pm at the Gallery

No doubt we'll repair to a local hostelry afterwards. For more details, see  the Flickr group discussion here.
